The Ear Force DSS 5.1/7.1 channel Dolby surround sound processor transforms any stereo headset into full, complete surround sound for playing XBOX 360, PS3 or PC games and watching movies with Blu-ray or DVD players. It works with any set of stereo headphones and is the perfect complement to the Turtle Beach Ear Force series of stereo gaming headsets (X31, X11, XLC, Z1, and PX21). The optical digital input easily connects to a game console or media player for Dolby 5.1/7.1 channel surround sound and the analogue input can also be used to upgrade analogue stereo audio sources to Dolby Pro Logic IIx for virtual surround sound. A bass boost control adds sub-woofer effects for increased realism to any audio source.

With the turtle beach Ear Force DSS, video game players and movie wathers will be able to hear distinct audio events happening all around them, greatly improving the overall experience and rewarding gamers with a newfound competitive advantage. DSS users playing games and watching movies on their game consoles will actually hear the 7.1 surround sound from certain 5.1 channel audio tracks via additional “hidden” channels called Dolby EX.

	I bought this in a bundle with TB X11 FRom this site to replace my TB X1 headset now setting up wasn't too hard because I had every thing I needed the only problem may have come from lack of optical port luckily I had two one on my tv and another on the xbox. Once set up I honeastly didn't notice much difference and just thought it was the x11 causing better sound than my previous X1 but after playing a little I started to notice the subtle surround sound and the higher qualitity noise. My only complaint may be cables as it can cause a little clutter considering my free usb ports are in the front and my DSS is behind it. I really like how it can chane modes its self so if it can't play surround sound for a video it changes for me, very useful. 	Does exactly what it says on the box ! Excellent audio quality. I use mine with my PX21 & you really can hear sounds coming from behind you as well as in front. I am used to using proper 5.1 with a home cinema set up. While using headphones is not exactly the same experience, it is true surround sound using headphones. My best test was using my set up with GTA4. I stood near the 'preacher' next to the northern most safe-house that Niko owned, closed my eyes, then spun around, trying to tell exactly where the 'preacher's' voice was coming from. With 100% accuracy, I could stop & visually locate him on the screen (in the correct direction to Niko). Very impressive. A MUST-BUY if you want surround sound at an affordable price. 	Fantastic piece of kit. Very easy to set up with the new Xbox 360 S type, the optical cable can go straight from the processor to the xbox, and cuts out a bulky wire i previously used. i had previously owned a pair of Astro A40's and the difference is very similar. Not going to say it is better because it isnt, but at the a fraction of the cost, my god its worth every penny, you can clearly tell where the Bullets, footsteps or echos are coming from. not only do i play Shooters like COD or Battlefield i also play RPG's, and the experience on them with the DSS and my x11's is mindblowing. you can hear every bit of detail. from the grass being crushed under your feet to the owl hooting behind you, the wind brushing the leaves away. and the howl of a wolf in the distance. it is a phenomenal bit of kit to change a standard headset to a stunning 5.1 simulated masterpiece, and at only a fraction of the cost of a top end headset. 	I bought the DSS and PX21's together, and tested them out and they are by far the best headset I've used so far, the sound you get from these are great, I would highly recommend them to anyone who either plays FPS shooters/Loves music, because they are great for both. 	Very impressive. Could immediately tell the difference with my X11s. The sound feels much more subtle and cleaner than without the DSS. In mw2 the 3d sound mapping is incredible with these, its really precise and clear. I would highly reccomend this product if you own an X11, PX21 etc	davef 23/10/10 at 10:43 AM
	I paired the DSS with my X11 headset and was instantly impressed with the sound quality. I have owned various sets, including the A40 and mixamp combo. I would rate the X11 and dss as equal if not better than the astro set, and much cheaper. I really was surprised at the quality of the directional placement. I have also owned the X41 and was expecting this set to be the same, i did however find it to be superior in terms of sound quality and placement. You will not be disappointed if you buy a dss and a pair of X11. And once again another excellent service from Lime. Thanks guys.	M Norman 22/09/10 at 08:37 AM
	Excellant sound positioning, you can exactly where people are coming from, Ive told team mates theres a guy top left they have then waitin and killed the person in question, people then ask how did i know.... its cos i can hear them, very clearly, 1 downside is i have to turn the volume on the dss all the way up and have my x11 at 3/4s - so you do have to turn it up a little more to hear the sound cues, but an awesome little device, you can use any stereo headset with it	StickyGeko 17/07/10 at 04:01 PM
