The Ear Force X4 offers many unique features to enhance your Xbox 360 gaming experience. The X4 was designed and developed by the audio experts at Turtle Beach – pioneers of leading edge PC and music industry audio products for more than 30 years.
 
Infrared Wireless Technology
The X4 transmitter sends uncompressed game audio to the headphones via a powerful wireless infrared (IR) light beam to assure high fidelity and reliable operation. Unlike some Radio Frequency (RF) headphones, IR technology is unaffected by interference from microwave ovens, cell phones, wireless networks, wireless phones and other RF devices found around the home. Also, with IR there’s no annoying delay between game action on the screen and the sound on your headphones.
 
Dolby Surround SoundAlthough the X4 is designed specifically for playing Xbox 360 games, its Dolby Surround Sound feature makes it an ideal addition to your home theater system. When you’re not playing Xbox games, you can enjoy DVD movies in surround sound without disturbing others, or listen to your TV, music or other stereo sources with the expanded sound of Dolby Pro Logic II processing.

so you can enjoy wireless Dolby Digital sound 
with movies, music, TV and more!
By configuring the X4 transmitter as illustrated below, you can listen to the Xbox or TV with the X4 headphones, and you can also hear the Xbox game on your home theater speakers without disconnecting the X4 transmitter.
 The X4’s transmitter’s analog inputs connected to the TV will automatically shut off whenever the Xbox is active. When the Xbox is turned off, the analog inputs will automatically turn on so you can listen to TV shows with the X4 headphones without having to disconnect cables.

Connecting the X4 transmitter digital output to your home theater system will pass the Xbox game audio from the transmitter’s digital input to the home theater AV receiver digital input, so you can hear the game only on the X4 headphones, just turn down the volume or mute your AV receiver to shut off the speakers.

The X4 transmitter incorporates Dolby Pro Logic II decoding, which provides surround sound realism from Dolby PL II encoded audio. When used with stereo sources, the Dolby Pro Logic Decoder also enhances the sound by spreading the stereo signal to provide a “wider” effect. This results in a richer, fuller sound than normal stereo — almost as if it originates from outside of the headphones.

Dynamic Talkback Expander

The dynamic talkback expander automatically adjusts Xbox® Live chat levels during loud moments, so chat from teammates isn't lost in the exciting parts of your game. During normal game volume levels, the expander doesn't affect the chat level. As the game audio increases, the chat volume is automatically increased so you can continue to hear what everyone is saying. When the game volume quiets down, the chat level gradually returns to the normal volume setting. It's a simple solution to an annoying problem, and it all happens automatically – so you don't have to adjust anything!

If you're wearing headphones, it's hard to hear yourself speak, so you'll tend to talk louder. To address this, the X3 incorporates microphone monitoring. Just like a telephone, the X3 mixes a portion of the microphone signal into the headphone signal, so you can hear some of your voice along with the online chatting and game audio. This lets you easily sense what you're saying, but not so much that it's distracting. Mic monitoring not only helps you stop talking so loud, it also eliminates that annoying "clogged ears" feeling when talking while headphones are covering your ears.

The X3 headphones incorporate a bass boost feature that produces deep, rich bass tones by increasing the volume of low frequency sounds – just like turning up the sub-woofer on your home theater system. This can improve your gaming experience by enhancing the sound of explosions, gun shots and other deep-bass sound effects to make them even more dramatic. Bass boost can be turned off with the slide switch on the headphones. You might want to do this, for example, when using the X3 for listening to music that requires a flat frequency response for truer reproduction.

Automatic Power Shut-off
